Popozao/Kevin Federline (aka K-Fed)
It’s always difficult when a good friend starts dating someone seriously. They have to pull away from you a bit to spend time building the new relationship, and there’s always the question of whether or not the chosen guy will fit in with your quirky family of friends. So when Andrea, Carolyn, and I went to Boston to spend time with Stacey and her boyfriend, Kevin, we really wanted things to go well. It just so happened that the week before our visit K-Fed released this video of himself in a studio jamming out to his first single, Popozao, inadvertently branding himself a complete tool in the process. The bobbing, the hand motions, yelling “fire!” randomly throughout the song, and the song itself gave us hours of mockable fun for the trip up. As soon as we busted in the door in Boston we dragged Stacey to the computer to show her the video so she could get in on it. Kevin, being the good sport he is, came along with us. He’s a pretty reserved guy by nature, and the four of us can be just a tad overwhelming when we get all worked up, so I was worried he thought we were just really obnoxious. But eventually we calmed down and the girls moved to the living room to catch up. We weren’t long into our conversation when we heard the sound of Popozao coming from the other room. Apparently Kevin had loved/hated the K-Fed video enough to watch it again on his own. I think he even forwarded it to one of his friends. It was at that moment we all knew for sure that Kevin was a keeper. Fire.
In Portuguese it means “bring your ass”,
on the floor, and move it real fast.
I want to see your kitty and a little bit of titty–
want to know where I go when I’m your city?
Girl, don’t you worry about all the dough,
because a cat is coming straight out of the know,
ready to rock those shows all the way to Rio.
Bring that Brazil booty on the floor.
Up, down, all around:
work that shit to the funky sound.
Going to see where I’m going, oh?
Po, Po, Po, Po, Popozão, Popozão
Po, Po, Po, Po, Popozão, Popozão
Po, Po, Po, Po, Popozão, Popozão
